Amanda Munro, CSA - More Than Meals

For nearly 14 years, Amanda Munro has been helping residents feel at home through one of life's simplest pleasures: good food.

Amanda joined Northwood after hearing positive things from a friend who already worked with the organization. The opportunities, benefits and supportive work environment made Northwood an easy choice.

Today, she works as a Continuing Care Services Assistant (CSA), preparing and serving meals, maintaining kitchen and dining areas, and ensuring residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs and restrictions.

While some people may see her as "the person who works in the kitchen," Amanda says her role is much more personal than that.

"I interact with the residents for 12 hours a day. I know most of their likes and dislikes."

She often becomes associated with residents' favourite meals, desserts and snacks, and those moments can make a meaningful difference in someone's day. The residents are also what have kept Amanda at Northwood for almost 14 years.

"I've had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people from so many walks of life and learned so much from them. To sit down and talk with someone who is 103 years old is priceless."

Throughout her career, Northwood has supported her as she explored different roles, including laundry and multiple CSA positions, providing training and support along the way.

For Amanda, the greatest reward is the opportunity to connect with residents every day.

“I live more because of the residents. I always look forward to talking andinteracting with them and learning about the days past.ˮ
