Rachelle Maas, Float LPN - Building Connections Through Care

For Rachelle Maas, nursing is about making a difference in people's lives, often through the smallest gestures. Whether it's offering a listening ear or a friendly smile, she believes every interaction matters.

Originally from the Netherlands, Rachelle joined Northwood as an internationally educated nurse looking for a welcoming workplace where she could grow while adapting to a new healthcare system and culture. She found that support at Northwood.

As a Float LPN, Rachelle's days are busy and varied. From administering medications and completing wound care to supporting residents, families and staff, she plays an important role in ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate care.

While many people see nursing as medication administration and clinical tasks, Rachelle says there is much more to the role.

"Every unit is like a small community," she says. "There are beautiful moments, emotional moments and strong relationships between residents and staff."

After two years with Northwood, it is those relationships that continue to inspire her.

"I feel safe and respected at Northwood, and I have a strong connection with both mycoworkers and residents. It's not just a job—it's a big part of my life."

Northwood has also supported her professional growth through training opportunities, conferences and a workplace culture that encourages staff to learn new skills and help one another.
