Cindy Mackenzie, CCA - Heart, Teamwork & Dedication

For 24 years, Cindy Mackenzie has been part of the Northwood team, supporting residents as a Continuing Care Assistant.
After deciding to make a career change, Cindy was drawn to the welcoming environment she found at Northwood. More than two decades later, it's still the people who keep her here.
A typical shift is busy and requires strong time management skills. Priorities can change quickly depending on residents' needs, and flexibility is essential.
Cindy believes there are many aspects of caregiving that people outside long-term care don't always see.
Staff often work through challenging situations, support new team members, go beyond their regular duties to help residents and, at times, continue caring for others even when they aren't feeling their best.
"The residents and staff" are the reason Cindy has stayed at Northwood for so long.
She credits the strong teamwork across all departments for creating an environment where staff support one another and residents receive quality care.
Throughout her career, Northwood has helped her continue learning through student mentorship opportunities, refresher training and education on new equipment and resident care practices.
For Cindy, caring for others continues to be a source of purpose and energy.
“I live more because I have lots of life in me and lots of life to offer.ˮ
Cindy's story is just one example of the difference you can make at Northwood. Whether you’re beginning your career, looking to grow your skills or ready for a new opportunity, there are many ways to build a meaningful career while making a difference in the lives of others.
