The months ahead are filled with opportunities to connect, celebrate, and support meaningful programs through the Northwood Foundation. From live music and community events to fundraising initiatives that directly support dignity and wellness programs, the Foundation’s 2026 lineup is focused on bringing people together while making a difference for older adults and the communities Northwood serves.
Tunesday Returns for the Summer
Beginning June 1, Tunesday brings live music to the Harbourview Lounge in Halifax every Monday evening through August 31. Led by renowned Halifax musician Mike Cowie, the program creates an intergenerational mentorship experience where young musicians learn alongside experienced performers.
Supported by the J&W Murphy Foundation, Tunesday is more than a concert series. It is an opportunity for stories, talent, and connection to be shared across generations in a welcoming community atmosphere.
Rehearsals take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by live performances from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Admission is by donation at the door.
Atlantic Sound Machine Dance Supports Recreation Therapy
On Saturday, September 12, the Joyce Bond Centre will host the Atlantic Sound Machine Dance, an evening dedicated to supporting Recreation Therapy programs at Northwood.
Guests can expect a lively night filled with music, dancing, and community spirit, all while contributing to programs that help foster connection, engagement, and quality of life.
The Live More Invitational Returns

Golfers and supporters will gather at Old Ashburn Golf Course on Monday, September 21 for the 4th Annual Live More Invitational Presented by Novacorp Properties Limited.
This popular event raises funds for mental wellness programs at Northwood and continues to grow as one of the Foundation’s signature community fundraisers. Participants can enjoy a day on the course while supporting initiatives that promote mental health and well-being.
Dignity Month Shines a Light on Community Support

Throughout September, the Northwood Foundation will once again recognize Dignity Month with several initiatives supporting the Dignified Living Fund.
An online auction running all month long will help provide essential items and everyday comforts that enhance dignity and quality of life for residents across Northwood communities.
The Foundation is also partnering with Mountain Warehouse through the Dignity Rack initiative. Purchases made from the rack will directly support seniors in the community by helping provide clothing and essential supplies.
Save the Date for the Live More Awards Gala

The Foundation’s signature celebration, the Live More Awards Gala, returns Thursday,
October 22 at the Halifax Convention Centre.
The gala recognizes community leaders who give back and help make Nova Scotia a better place to live. The evening brings together supporters, partners, and community members for a celebration of generosity, leadership, and impact.
Supporting Dignity, Connection, and Joy
Every event and initiative organized by the Northwood Foundation helps support programs and services that create dignity, connection, and joy for the people Northwood serves every day.
Whether through attending an event, sponsoring a program, donating, or helping spread awareness, community support continues to make a meaningful difference.
