We're wrapping up National Volunteer Week (April 19–25) where we celebrated the people who give their time, compassion, and care to others, and at Northwood, that impact is felt in the moments that matter most.
Every day, across our communities, volunteers help create connection, comfort, and a true sense of belonging. It might look like a shared conversation, a walk, a game, or simply sitting together. These small moments have a lasting impact - bringing joy, easing loneliness, and helping people feel seen, valued, and at home.
This year’s Volunteer Week theme, Ignite Volunteerism, speaks to the ripple effect of giving. At Northwood, that ripple is powerful. Each year, our volunteers contribute thousands of hours supporting residents, clients, and programs, helping to strengthen not only individual lives, but our entire community.
To all of our volunteers: thank you! Your kindness, generosity, and presence make a meaningful difference every single day.
Ways to Support Northwood
There are many ways to get involved - each one making a real difference in someone’s day.
Volunteer your time
Spend time with residents and clients through one-on-one visits, group programs, or special events. Whether it’s an hour a week or more, your time helps create connection and brighten someone’s day.
Join the Core Volunteer Program
If you’re looking to build meaningful relationships and make a consistent impact, our Core Volunteer Program offers a more regular and rewarding way to give back.
Share your skills or interests
Music, art, recreation, conversation - whatever you enjoy, there’s a place for it here. Volunteers bring their unique talents and personalities, helping to enrich daily life in our communities.
Volunteerism looks different for everyone, but at its heart, it’s about showing up, connecting, and making a difference in someone’s life.
If you’ve ever thought about supporting older adults in your community, this could be a meaningful place to start. Even a small amount of time can have a lasting impact.
